Julie and I want to sincerely thank the TCIS International School teaching community and Khun Suvanee Promchan for their support of a youth sports day in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand this past April! In a neighborhood on the Mun River, near downtown, there is a field, more like a dirt clearing, that served as the venue for this inaugural sports day and it was a tremendous success!
TCIS teachers bought t shirts in the Spring of 2018 and the proceeds helped to lay chalk lines, buy two soccer nets, goals, balls and provide post game coconut ice cream for the participating players!
The sports day would not have been possible without the efforts of Khun Suvanee, a community activist and former Field Director for Mahidol University’s Institute of Nutrition, who was essential in collaborating, organizing and implementing the event on the ground in Ubon. As a result of her determination, dirt clearing was transformed into a usable soccer pitch and sports day venue!
The Good Run is a passion project for Julie and I and our goal is to grow it’s impact, especially in places where we have been fortunate to live and work. The ride has been and will continue to be, a positive life changing experience for our family and it’s important to us that we give back along the way. The Good Run will allow us and hopefully others (at home and abroad) to accomplish the goal of giving back along the way. The Ubon project, with your help, will grow access to youth sports in Ubon and ideally, beyond.
There are three ways you can help now, donate on the website here, buy another t shirt (email us) or share a post on social about “giving back along the way,” use #soistrong in your post!
Thank you, TCIS and Khun Suvanee for your support!
